Win one of my books, signed!
November 28, 2016
I love this pic of SFC Jens Pietrzyk, an Army flight paramedic deployed to Afghanistan, with two of his favorite books. (My, they look familiar!) Jens is a Reservist who works as a firefighter back home, and is also a member of FEMA TF1 CO with his German shepherd, a human remains search dog.
This is Jens's third deployment to the Middle East, and he misses his dog greatly every time he deploys. He figures if he can't have his German shepherd at his side, at least he can read about awesome dogs -- thus my books!
Would you like to be like Jens? No, not by deploying to Afghanistan, but by owning Top Dog or Secret Service Dogs? Write a comment below to Jens and the team he works with -- something that will make them feel a little piece of home, and appreciated, during this holiday season. I'll narrow down the choices by picking my favorites, and then I'll use random.org to select the two winners. (I've learned from experience that there are usually too many great entries to make the choice an easy one, and am grateful for the help from random.org.)
If you have a strong preference for one book or the other, please note which one on your entry. Deadline is Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 8 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. Books can be mailed only to U.S. or APO addresses. I'll announce the winners Wednesday afternoon at the bottom of this post, and reach out to contact them. Even if you don't win, you're a winner because you'll have helped make some soldiers happy during a time of year they could use all your well wishes.
Results: I know this page took long to load the comments and some of you were discouraged, but thank you to everyone who stuck it out and left comments. They were all wonderful and it was very hard to narrow down the field at all. I had quite a few favorites, so I left them in the hands of random.org. The two who ended up as book winners are Alyssa Foltz and Lynn Schrader. I'll be doing more giveaways/contests down the road so stay tuned! And know that even if you didn't win a book this time, your comments meant a lot to Nels and his fellow soldiers. I have it on good authority! :)
